Welcome to Minakuchi Higashi Junior and Senior High School!

Our school was opened in April 1975 as a general course studies senior high school and since then we have achieved great results as a preparatory school in the local community. In April 2003, we started a new beginning as a combined junior and senior high school. At Minakuchi Higashi, we not only strive for students to reach their fullest potential academically, but we also foster students to become strong-minded and prepare them for a generation of sharing innovative ideas and working in a multitude of different fields.

At Minakuchi Higashi, we uphold traditions that are rooted in both literary arts and sports. Over 90 percent of our students are involved in a sports or cultural extracurricular club activity. Students not only focus on their studies, but also compete ever year at the national level through extracurricular activities.

 

Special Programs

International Exchange

We conduct a student exchange program in partner with our sister school in Australia. On outbound years, our students can experience homestay with a family in Brisbane, and, on inbound years, students from Australia can enjoy experiencing school life with our students.

Community Improvement Research

Students search for problems or ways that they can improve their community, conduct actual fieldwork research in the community, and then present their proposals and hone their presentation skills through their “research time” class.

University Collaboration

Our school has affiliations with many universities in and outside of Shiga. Students are able to visit these universities, and they can experience university life through attending lectures and classes.

 

Career Guidance

Our students study persistently to follow their own path while respecting the separate paths that their classmates choose to follow. The majority of students at Minakuchi Higashi go on to pursue higher education at a public or private 4-year university after graduating.
